Crypto News Verification: Check Token Claims Before Acting
A crypto news headline is a claim to investigate, not a transaction instruction. This evergreen guide shows how to verify token announcements and separate publication, technical evidence and investment implications. It is not a breaking-news feed.

01 / Explained
1. Trace the headline to the original claim
Save the exact claim, its publication time and the original announcement. Distinguish the date an event happened from the date a news site covered it. Several articles repeating one announcement are not several independent confirmations.
For Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana or Shiba Inu news, identify the affected network, asset and organisation first. An update to one wallet, bridge or application is not automatically a network-wide change. For a smaller token such as PVTY, match the mint as well as the project name to avoid reading evidence for a lookalike.

2. Choose evidence that fits the claim
A listing claim needs the venue's own live record: a submitted form, support email or approved logo is not equivalent to tradability. A liquidity-lock claim needs the correct pool, LP asset or position, escrow, locked amount, release time and cancellation terms. A burn claim needs the relevant mint's executed transaction and supply evidence, not a planned announcement or an unexplained transfer.
An adoption claim needs a working external implementation or a clearly attributed independent reproduction. A partner application is not an integration. A project-funded demonstration should be labelled as such. A technical audit claim should identify the reviewer, report, code scope, date and unresolved findings.

3. Worked example: 'PVTY liquidity is locked'
Treat this sentence as an incomplete claim, not a verdict. Open PactVerity's allocation register and verification dossier to locate the published pool and lock references. Independently match the locked asset to the pool, read the current contract terms and compare the locked amount with the appropriate LP denominator. This article does not provide a fresh on-chain lock attestation.
Next ask what the claim leaves out. An LP lock is not a lock on every PVTY treasury balance, does not prevent holders selling and does not freeze a dollar value of liquidity. Even a valid lock record cannot establish the price a future sale will receive. A useful report separates the checked lock from those unproven implications.

4. Turn a promotional sentence into a bounded finding
Original: 'A verified listing means the token is safe.' Bounded finding: 'The provider displays these identity fields at this timestamp; verification scope and market access must be checked separately.' Original: 'Burning supply guarantees appreciation.' Bounded finding: 'An executed burn changes supply; it does not establish future demand or price.' These are illustrative rewrites, not quotations from a specific provider.
Original: 'Ten holders means ten independent investors.' Bounded finding: 'The index reports ten accounts under its methodology; common control, pool vaults and escrows still need classification.' The correct outcome of a check may be partly supported or unknown. Do not remove uncertainty merely to make a headline more attractive.

5. Keep a source-and-limitations log
A reusable record has six fields: exact claim, primary-source URL, asset or transaction identifier, observation time, supported finding and remaining limitation. Distinguish issuer statements from independently observed results. Do not enter private keys, recovery phrases, customer records or confidential security reports into a public evidence record.
PactVerity's Proof Engine can evaluate supplied evidence against explicit rules and produce a recheckable receipt. It does not independently authenticate every source, verify every crypto headline or turn an uncertain claim into truth. A reproducible result is only as meaningful as its inputs and stated rule scope.

Follow project updates without mistaking them for independent news
PactVerity publishes its own product and token records. They are useful starting points but remain first-party material. Compare them with explorer data, venue records and independent reviews where available. Read the PVTY guide for identity and the transparency pages for disclosures; neither a news mention nor a branded receipt is a recommendation to buy.
Avoid acting on artificial urgency. A legitimate research process gives you time to inspect the source, understand the asset and decide whether the remaining uncertainty is acceptable. This guide offers a checking method, not a guarantee of safety or a forecast.
